Topic: The question of provision of primary and secondary education in conflict-affected regions

In the modern society, violent conflicts disturb the routines and lives of civilians across the globe, and maintaining provision of education is extremely difficult within conflict regions. In Libya, armed conflicts have toughly impacts on the participants and infrastructures of the education system, and obviously conflicts also lead to weaken livelihoods, increase health risks, interrupt economic growth and diverse scarce public resources which are indirectly disturb the education. As one of the original members of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Libya recognizes the importance of education and has always been committed towards finding potential solutions to ensure the access to education is not interrupted by conflicts.

Having suffered from armed conflict in recent years, Libya has incurred great loss. After the latest government took office and international organization aided, however, education system has been reinforced and more facilities have been provided by fund. Libya shows its commitment to EFA (The Education For All) and take advantages of the program from assistance to strengthen policies and practices in education. In Libya, teenagers who are educated over 15 years old take up 79%, and people who are higher educated take up 13% of total population. Libya intends to make further efforts to enhance the education quality and to alleviate the problem of primary and secondary education.

To conclude, Libya confirms its determination to improve the primary and secondary education and insists in seeking cooperation with international organizations and other countries.
