In today’s society there have been new advancements in technology growing rapidly in which most people depend on. Some of these technologies may have been the results in crime activity found in the in our society. A new technology that has come a long way is the computer. The computer has opened secured and unsecured places for people to surf the internet web for unlimited information that is at reach to any person at any time. This advancement of technology has allowed cyber-crimes to occur. Cyber-crimes are crimes that are done by using the computer and internet, while committing an illegal act, affecting people’s personal privacy.
“No Day at the Beach” Article Summary
“No day at the beach” is about a show on NBC’s Dateline called ‘To Catch a Predator.’ This show helps catch child predators that use Internet chat rooms to “hook up” with minor girls and boys for sex. “No day at the beach” focuses on men in Ocean County, New Jersey. Chris Hansen is the host for the show ‘To Catch a Predator’ and is working with Perverted Justice (an online watch group for predators in chat rooms) and the Ocean County prosecutor’s office, Tom Kelaher.
Members of Perverted Justice will hang out in chat rooms, posed as teen girls, waiting for someone to contact him or her. When they are contacted they act like a teen would and set up a meeting. When the predator shows up they are greeted by a decoy used by the prosecutor’s office. After some time Chris Hansen approaches the pair and confronts the predator, shortly after that the predator is arrested and taken in for questioning.
