For P1 I am going to describe the key features of public health strategies as they relate to current times.
Public health-
Public health is the health of the population as a whole, especially as monitored, regulated and promoted by the state its more than that it’s the science and art of preventing disease they also focus on prolonging life and promoting health through organized efforts .It is concerned with threats to health based on population health analysis.
Key aspects
There are many key aspects of public health the 6 main key aspects that help with focusing more on public health are,
- Identifying the health needs of the population,
- Monitoring the health status of the community
- Developing programmes to reduce risk and screen for early disease
- Controlling communicable disease
- Promoting the health of the population
- Planning and evaluating the national provisions of health and social care target settings
I have listed all 6 but I am going to describe and concentrate on only 3, which are controlling communicable disease, promoting the health population and identifying the health needs of population
Controlling communicable disease
A communicable disease is a disease that spreads from one person to another such as HIV , they spread through airborne viruses or bacteria but they can also spread through the blood or other bodily fluid. Other words are used to describe communicable such as infectious and contagious.
A way to control communicable disease is by getting vaccinated, a vaccine protects you from specific disease that can make you very sick, disable or kill you such as ebola there is no vaccine for HIV, they boost your body’s own defence system, they create immunity that protects you from an infection without causing the suffering of the disease itself, some vacancies are called immunizations, needles or shots.
Promoting the health population
This means the process of enabling people to increase control over their health and it determinants and thereby improve their health.
