Personal Responsibility
Personal responsibility is vital to one’s success in college. There are different methods of attending a college, the primary two being on campus or online. Regardless of the method of attending college, one must always ensure that the proper procedures are followed to attain the best results. It should be noted that there is more to personal responsibility than a simple short-term goal. By practicing personal responsibility one can obtain success in all aspects beyond academia, in life and in the workplace.
Responsibility is the ability to stay on target and maintain integrity. It is the ability to set goals and do whatever is required to maintain these goals. Something that is very important to note is that when one is working toward a certain goal, it is all right to enlist the help of others. It is important to note when help is needed, and it is a sign of showing responsibility. On a personal note, I have found that I have run into problems before in school that I found myself unable to solve, and knowing that I could ask a classmate for help in the clarification of the assignment or communicating with the professor helped out a great deal. In this class, even, I found that when I was not completely understanding an assignment I could communicate with the members of my team and was able to figure everything out from there. It is important to return the favor and help as well when it is asked for.
It is important always to plan for the long term. Health is as important to an academic career, is not arguably more important than proper study habits. Proper health responsibility can make it so that one can maintain attendance in school and keep up proper study habits. Not taking proper care of oneself can lead to burnout. “Staying healthy means confiding in life as it is given and includes: counting on life’s advantages and its adversities; being open to one’s abilities, limits and possibilities to develop; and living life with a tone of contentment” (Gustafsson & Strandberg, 2009) . Life can provide challenges, but it is important to overcome them. Maintaining proper health can help one to think positively and ultimately impact everything one does. This would translate into study and scholastic habits, ensuring success.
In narratives of healthcare personnel about meanings of their lived experience of staying healthy in a context where others developed burnout, a forbearance with life’smany-sidedness protrudes. Life is both good and bad, yet one has confidence in it. These meanings of staying healthy are in line with Antonovsky’s description of a SOC which focusses on people’s view of life, their way of seeing the world and life with both chaos and stress as natural. (Gustafsson & Strandberg, 2009)
It is important to maintain proper health and avoid burnout, and take life as it is. This will ensure
