Poverty has been a part of our world for decades. About 25,000 people die every day from hunger- related issues, sadly majority of them just so happen to be children. There may be plenty of food in the world to feed everyone however many of these people live in severe poverty and do not have the necessary benefits such as money to purchase food to nourish their bodies. The lack of food makes it easier for many to become weaker and harder for them to work, and without work comes no income to make a living. This downward spiral continues until it reaches the point of death. Poverty not only leads to many deaths around the world, it also leads to violence. The two parts of the world that make up the bulk of this percentage are South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Because of the slow progress in these two areas and the continuation of the current trends; the Millennium Development Goals target of halving the proportion of underweight children will be missed by 30 million children.
