Report on a Meeting About Solving Problems

Executive summary: This report is based on the experiences of discussions about carrying out a university student volunteer program in April 2011. The goal of the program is to help children with language disorders in the training center to learn their lesson better. There was a main problems to be solved in the meeting before the program was put into practices. It was: How to spread the information of this volunteer program to attract more students to become volunteers. In an other word, how to rise and keep the students’ passion to join the program.
At the beginning of the meeting, the current status of other similar program was analyzed:
1. There were too many other volunteer programs in the campus, students might not pay special attention to our program if importance was not attached to advertising. Diverse, sufficient and attractive advertising method is necessary.
2. Some students did not know much about special groups such as children with mental or physical handicap and so on. So they did not feel like to join this kind of program.
3. Many program is just one-off activity, and may not helpful for the children in the long run. But this kind of program is easy to be attractive because it takes less time.
As things stand, our program might involved in the aspects mentioned above. This program was not so novel, but not many people got familiar with the target of the program: the children with language disorders. And what’s more, many students could not persist the joining the program because the program site was far away from campus. So solutions should be discussed in the next topic of the meeting.
Brainstorm was implemented in the next part. All of the six members in the group put forward useful thought. But we should choose some practical methods as the final solutions. At the last, the result were collected as followed:
