Ethics Game Paper

The Ethics Game Simulation located on the University of Phoenix website, provided a look into real life situations that we may be exposed to in the real world. There were two games titled The Mysterious Blogger and The Veiled ID. Both games gave scenarios in where you had to decide which ethical choice best suits the situation. They required ethical decision-making steps to address these issues. Given the scenario, making the right choice involved using your ethical perspectives, and lenses to influence your choice.

In The Mysterious Blogger Game, an employee had written a blog where 10% of the information is confidential. There is sensitive company info on an employee’s personal computer. This information may be compromising to the company’s interest and stakeholders. Making sure the information is protected is the most important issues at hand. The second issue is that another employee in IT was the one who revealed the information. This was not compliant as the employee acted on his own to expose the employee writing the blog. The second game called The Veiled ID included the issue of how to apply a security policy that addresses both safety and special needs of the employees. Given the information in the scenarios, I had to closely examine the situation at hand to make my ethical choices. When working in a diverse atmosphere, you must take into consideration not only sex but also religion. I realized when reviewing the information, I had to review all information before making a decision. I did not make any choice off one piece of information. In the games, I had to read all pertinent information before making my choice.

Using the Relationship lens and Rights lens, led me to make my ethical choices. For the Blogger Game, The Rights and Responsibility lens were used to make my ethical choices.
