The Favorite Food in US: Fast Food
Fast food is kind of food which is prepared quickly and usually contains fried potatoes, chicken, etc. and it is one of the most harmful food among the varieties of meals for human being. Especially in the U.S, the frequency of eating fast food has been getting higher than before. Adults and children face to this issue seriously. Some of them are aware of it and provide against fast food, but some are not. Because of adults' life style and children's lack of auto control, fast food takes place almost in every lunch and dinner and make them addicted. At this point there must be some kind of enforcement to reduce eating fast food or make people aware of the dangerous.
Fast food habit has been increasing day by day for adults and children. Because they are the biggest target for fast food restaurants, they make noticeable ads and discounts, and get them eat junk food frequently. Thus, it causes them to gain more weight than before. According to the Brownell (2004), “A study with young students found that among whites eating fast food more than twice versus less than once per week was associated with 86% increased risk of becoming obese.” This target also faces to risky situation because of the unhealthy nutrition. Fatty burgers, high levels of sugar etc. are the main ingredients to gain weight and become unhealthy. Adults in the U.S work for hours to earn money and to live in better conditions. However, they do not pay attention one essential issue which is nutrition. Lack of time makes them eat easy and quick meals like fast food instead of natural food even for breakfast. According to a research of Journal of the American College of Nutrition (Brownell, 2004), fast food provides more than one-third of the day’s energy and 1 of 4 adults in the U.S regularly eat fast food. Easy, quick, cheap and good taste is a good deal for adults.
Childhood obesity has been becoming a big problem in U.S. According to a study, one of third American children, 4-19 age groups, eat fast food regularly. Moreover, they gain weight up to 6lbs every year. This is really big problem for children, and parents must protect them from this dangerous habit (Starr, 2009). The delicious taste and charming appearance of fried potatoes and hamburger makes children eat more than they need. It is already high on fats, sugar and calories. High sugar levels make children tend to be diabetes (type two). High levels of fats lead to increase blood cholesterol.
