The importance of Cybersecurity

        Since the advent of the Internet, the 21st century is different from other centuries. The Internet brings a lot of advantages to the world. At present, with the rapid development of the Internet, Internet has been applied in many regions, like agriculture, industry, business, and so on. Factories use internet to manage the production of goods, and  far apart the two companies can negotiate by using internet. In addition, the internet brings lots of benefits to people’s life. People use internet to communicate with friends, families, or colleagues, and increasingly people shop, work, and study online. The human beings can not live without the internet. The internet has become an important  part of people’s life. However, there are many problems appearing in the internet. A growing number of news about network security issues are reported, like someone’s bank account is stolen, or the privacy leaked. More and more people are concerning the network security issues, and that has become a hot topic in the life. Why is the cybersecurity extremely important? From the big perspective, the cybersecurity is related to a country’s safe. From the small side, the cybersecurity is related to publics’ basic life. In recent society, not only need to focus on the safe of the real life, but also need to care about the safe of the network because if the network is dangerous, the society will be unstable.

        First of all, cybersecurity matters to everyone. Due to the wide use of the internet, a majority of people’s individual information, such as bank account, ID numbers, family address, code, and so on, is put in the internet. People believe that the security of the internet is reliable. They use some tools like “cloud” to store information, which is safer than writing it down, and more convenient, will not easily lost it, and can save for a long time. This information is very important, once the information is stolen by hacker, it will cause a huge effect to people. For instance, if the hacker knows your bank card password, your deposits may be transport to another account. Also, if the name, address, and family situation are known by some criminals, they may probably utilize these information to defraud your friends, like calling your friends and telling them that you have a big trouble, and need to borrow some money. The telephone frauds are often happening in the life. Even though many people do not believe it, there is always someone fooled. Preventing leakage of personal information is very significant, so the publics should learn how to protect themselves. Moreover, protecting yourself is not just about own, it is about protecting all of people. According to Larry Magid, “It’s not unlike public health. One of the reasons health officials urge almost everyone to get a flu shot is because people who are infected are more likely to infect others. And the same is true for cyber security. Infected devices have a way of infecting other devices and compromised systems can make everyone vulnerable”. Thus, the cyber hygiene is particular important.
