Executive Summary

It has been observed that a considerable number of working women (estimated to be 250 women) are finding it hard to balance both work and family, especially women with kids. They have expressed their concerns regarding the fact that their busy schedule keeps them away from their family and as a result they are unable to spend quality time with their children. While women in the senior management have a little more levy to attend to their kids as they are not strictly bound by timelines, the regular employees seem to be having a tough time balancing the two.  

The effects of the same could be

• Less concentration on daily duties
• Under performance due to being preoccupied
• Less productivity due to lack of work-life balance
• Dissatisfaction due to imbalance in time prioritization
• Health related issues due to stress and constant concern for their loved ones

The above problems cannot be ignored as they would have severe ramifications on our company-employee relationship, brand image, goals and targets, productivity and ultimately revenues.

As a part of the HR team, we would like to suggest the option of starting a crèche at each level in the organization catering to the needs of these working women. The idea is to make sure our employees are at ease and can give their best at work without having to worry about the safety of their children while they are at work.

Introduction

Families with both parents working generally find it difficult to spend quality time with their kids. Women especially are unable to devote time for their kids in their early growing stages when the kid needs apt guidance and care. As a result parents are forced to take a day off from time to time to try and bridge the gap thus created. Mothers with young children find it very difficult to pursue their duties in the initial years and the child is highly sensitive and might require attention and help at any moment. This leaves working mothers no other choice but to leave their kids in the hands of private crèches or at relatives based on the viable choices.

Statement of need

In today’s financially demanding world, it has become highly essential for both parents to earn so as to make ends meet. The addition of a kid only makes this more stressful on the couple. A lot of working women at this point are forced to choose between family and parenting and those that choose to still work and manage their kids are left with extreme stress which does not enable then to perform up to their true potential at their workplace. Also the competitive dynamics of the business world does not provide room for slack which forces them to work longer and only results in a chain of events leading to dissatisfaction on both ends. Thus we strongly believe there is a need for a feasible solution to address the problems our employees seem to be facing.
