Introduction
Amazon Web Services is the fastest growing technology company to reach 10 billion revenue within 10 years of its inception. AWS is the largest cloud computing services provider(1) providing Infrastructure as a Service(IAAS), Platform as a Service(PAAS) and Software as a Service(SAAS) services and solutions to startups and enterprise customers alike. AWS provides on-demand delivery of IT resources and applications via the internet with "pay as you go and pay as you use" pricing. AWS provides services to the largest number of startups compared to its competitors due to its agility, scalability and Zero Capex and Only OPEX model; The enterprise customers are moving to the cloud from the in-house technology infrastructure model due to simplification of IT systems, lowering costs and its scalability benefits. AWS also has the broadest ecosystem of system integrators(Accenture, Cognizant) and Independent Software Vendors building software applications on AWS(Adobe, Splunk). AWS has facilitated innovation across the industry by removing constraints by facilitating flow of information and unbound creativity through technology. AWS has one million active customers every month in 190 countries. AWS is currently the most profit generating unit of Amazon by accounting for 52% of Amazon's profits even though having only 10% of Amazon's total revenues.
