Gateway Academy is a branch of childcare centers derived from Phoenix Children's Academy. The company has approximately one hundred and thirty children, thirteen instructors, and three office staff. The information technology system in Gateway is rather small, but it is effective in obtaining the proper results.
The IT systems used involve computers, Internet, phones, e-mail, faxes, and software programs to prepare data. To start with the offices work through two computers, they are Dell Optiplex 580 in a slim tower. This system has an Amd Athlon II Processor, and runs a Windows Vista program. They also have 50 GB hard drives, 16 GB DDR3 Memory ram, standard ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics card and an usb mouse and keyboard. We use Dell pro support, but the company also has a local IT technician that is trained in our programs and computer repair. These computers are linked so the programs can be updated or seen from either computer. To protect the computers they use a program called Avast for viruses and spyware.
The computers is connected to the Internet by high speed DSL and have a wireless modem for the printers, so detailed reports are printed and sent through mail or emailed through the internet. We also do phone conferences over the internet and all payroll, inventory, and children information is sent to corporate through Internet.
