Abstract : One of the popular board games in the world is the Snakes and Ladders. This board game was first recognized in the rich country of India, where it was known as “Mokshapat” or “Moksha Patamu”. Even though the inventor of such game is unknown, it was played since 2nd century BC. The game was transported into different parts of the world and in 1943 it reached the United States where its name was changed to Chutes and Ladders. [4]

Two or more players are needed to play the game. The game is played on a game board filled with a grid of squares, which are numbered from 1 to 100, and figures of snakes and ladders and a die is needed to determine the number of moves a game piece will make. Each player will take turns in doing that. The game pieces will move from the square at the bottom left corner to the square at the the upper left corner. If a game piece landed at the bottom of a ladder, then it will move up a few rows on the board vertically or diagonally, depending on the ladder’s length and its position. On the other hand, if the game piece landed on the head of a snake, then it will go down a few rows on the board vertically or diagonally, depending on the length of the snake and its position. The first player to reach the square at the the upper left corner will be declared the winner. [2]

Many children enjoy Snakes and Ladders. That game helps them enhance their counting and addition skills and serves as a good exercise for their brains. [5] In this technological era, it can be played in computers and other mobile devices.

  1. Introduction

Logic is a science that deals with the principles and criteria of validity of inference and demonstration. It is the science of the formal principles of reasoning. Examples of a branch or variety of logic are modal and Boolean. It can also be a particular mode of reasoning viewed as valid or faulty. In addition , logic is defined to be a system or set of principles underlying the arrangements of elements in a computer or electronic device so as to perform a specified task. [1] Most puzzles and games can be solved using logic, this indicates that logic is one of the key foundations of creating/designing different puzzles/games. Logic may seems simple and easy at first but as you dig in deeper to it. It can turn something simple into something tricky and difficult.

In the modern world we are surrounded by a variety of technologies that help us in different aspects. Through this project we were given a chance to develop a simple app that that is relevant to  certain concepts in Discrete Mathematics. We are required to use the MIT App Inventor in order to create the expected output. Using the MIT App Inventor, we were able to design the application and define its function by using the blocks provided.

Are you looking for an adventurous experience where you feel being chased? If you get lost, will you find your way out? Then, this game is the one for you. It’s time for you to make the escape of the lifetime. Introducing, The Great Escape.
