Future devices, appliances & physical objects would be considered as smart devices, however not only the nature of it and its technology content is driven by the applications of the IoT in the further aspects of life, but also it is related to the objectives & aspiration of the industrial innovation from the manufacturers.

If we take an example of what several consumers provider (e.g. Apple, Google, Microsoft, ..etc) are doing now, through following their strategies & visions to engage & defeat their rivals in the domain of IoT, you’ll notice that it is about the consumer experience and how to make it simpler; yet effective & richer for the users welfare. For instance, the smart home & ability to control the content of the all the devices in it using the voice control from the mobile devices (phone, PDAs, ..etc), which are the device that are most of the time are with us, or from the smart watch, which is gaining more momentum to be the continuous companion more than the phone or PDA, even inside the water now days (with the development of the water proof, not water resistant only watches).

This opens a new chapter of possibilities, as this is expanding the concept from focusing on process improvement based on the introducing the efficiency in the back services to support the customer facing experience (i.e. improvement is done in the supply chain not the end user itself; although at the end it reflects to the user experience), in other words; not only related to the connectivity of the devices and equipment thru the sensors built-in to the manufacturers & its feedback, hence a generate predictable services requirement, and to improve the backdoor support for such services in parallel. Rather it is about the element of the users experience itself & is expanded based on the connectivity from the IoT infrastructure.
