Executive Summary
This paper analyses the use of Information Systems in Deerwalk, and looks at how the company has been able to incorporate technology to carry out its core business activities. It also presents advantages and disadvantages of IT infrastructures used and finally, provide some recommendations to the company to better improve its services using IT.
Deerwalk is an IT outsourcing company that provides services to build various software for its clients. It is a subsidiary of Deerwalk inc. and it works in the health industry because of the huge potential in the field. It employs about 350 people in Nepal and about 25 people in the US. It has been able to serve the needs of its clients by creating customized software specific to the customer. It considers itself to be the future of information technology in the US healthcare industry. Some of its primary activities include analyzing big data, cloud computing, network security, email management, graphic design, website hosting and design, search engine optimization, providing profiling and reporting, data warehousing, predictive modeling and analytics. Its clients include hospitals, accountable care organizations, brokers and disease managers.
Deewalk uses a range of system and application softwares to carry out its core activities. It has also created application software named Deerwalk Resource Management (DRM) for its ERP. This software is used to keep logs of all the administrative activities carried at Deerwalk such as log of employee attendance, performance appraisal, leave records and as a payment system in the canteen. It also uses Redmine as a project management tool for software as a service and Amazon cloud for its web services.
