Information technology is advancing rapidly and has already changed the way many companies do business. With new computers and mobile devices offering a higher level of communication, businesses are improving their marketing and networking skills, staying in touch with the competition and their own customers, and making improvements in the way they conduct research and development, not only this but the IT revolution influenced individuals and society as well.

In this paper we’ll be focusing on examples for the biggest IT influences related to communication, speed, efficiency, availing new channels, and information resources through highlighting the top five IT inventions and/or applications and clarify how they influence business and/or personals and work as an enabler in the globalization arena.

1- Internet

Since the wide spread of the internet in the 90s, it changed the concept of communication and removed time and geographical constrains, in addition business considered it as new channel accessed by millions of people daily and great opportunity to communicate with customers.

Before the Internet, things like banking, paying bills, and shopping took a long time, and made you leave your home. With the Internet, online banking allows people to check up on their personal finances on 24/7 basis.

Adding online shopping saves time and energy. Online shopping gives more options and an inventory of all items while a shop at the mall has limited space to display all the stuff, but there are no limits on online stores.

The internet has also made it much easier for families and friends who live far away from one another to communicate. With all the processing required letters used to take days or weeks to arrive. Today, a quick email takes seconds to say whatever you want to whomever you want to say it to. Media files can be included in emails too; pictures and short movies spread all over the world
