Specific
Making training relevant to particular sport for individual, this mean training will be for effective and allow improvement on a certain exercise or skill.
Progression
Gradually increasing intensity/difficulty of training, if progression isn't made the body will adapt to the level of training and the improvements will be minimal.
Overload
Have to apply greater demands in order to improve. ‘Threshold training' is the point when exercise is demanding enough to have effect on the body. For example a weightlifter added greater weight then usual.
Reversibility
General fitness changes all the time, so if you stop training your fitness level will decrease and be harder to maintain fitness.
Tedium
This is keeping your training interesting so you don't become bored of it. You can stop this by having various different exercises.
