Its fifth part of this series has been sold about 5 million copies in the United States on the first day. Supermarket such as TESCO is the biggest retailer. In Britain, TESCO ordered 500,000 copies of 4th series of Harry Potter and sold 317,400 copies in the first 24 hours. They slashed the prices of the book to drive the sales and snatch the market share from the specialist retailers.
It is a growing and profitable industry, but only for the few. The reason for published many book is that, you only need one J.K.Rowling's out of a hundred or even thousand new authors to justify the publisher's speculation. The worldwide sales of Harry Potter books are now in excess of 115 million copies. Bloomsbury, the publisher of harry potter sold the film right £50 million to Warner Brothers.
Most publishers will only work through agents. The author agent relationship is a business partnership. Agent will review his clients work and advice on quality and potential marketability and the possibilities to securing its publication. The initial acceptance of publisher is the good look of author. Good looks can help with sales, especially if the author is young.
The editor assigned to any book will work closely with the author once the contract has been signed. The original manuscript may need months or even years of reworking. Next is the designing of the book jacket. Then the size of the book is almost important as the design of the jacket cover. There is issue on whether to publish the book in hardback and paperback or just paperback.
