Crane lifting and lowering operations
- Due to large weight of subsea equipment the lifting and lowering of it can pose a risk due to the effect of dynamic forces and capability of the lifting equipment. This can cause serious threat to personnel safety and the infrastructure itself.
Load control and positioning:
- This involves placing the subsea equipment at the exact desired location. The slacking of the rope should be in a stable manner to avoid the brazing of the equipment with the sea bed.
Hot work (Welding, grinding, cutting) Respiratory hazard=?
Inadequate personnel protective equipment=?
Harsh weather: storms and hurricanes.
- During the transportation of the equipment, the unpredicted weather, can affect the pace with which the installation work can be carried out, causing serious delays to the project plan, and incurring additional costs on the project.
Vessel capacity
- Due to the size of the equipments, we have to make sure that the vessel with the appropriate capacity is available. They also may be deployed at other similar projects going on at the same time which can cause a conflict in the dates when it is available and when we need it.
Schedule constraints and delays
Environmental risks
- The ecology of the area where the SGS is to be installed should be kept in view as there can be species on the sea bed that could be disturbed by the installation activity.
Technology qualification.
An all electrical power supply and distribution system for subsea gas compression module is still in the completion phase. The company has to make sure that the system is delivered on time for the project without any unexpected delays.
