Upon reviewing Group 10’s paper on green computing, it is clear that they are very knowledgeable about their subject. By breaking their subject into five important components, we were able to discern the individual importance of each component, as well as the areas in which they need improving. Group 10 did a good job of breaking down the pros and cons of each component, as they did with their interpretation of the Energy Star program, stating that ever-expanding technology can make products that are still energy efficient obsolete before their time. They also directly linked each component benefit to their usefulness in the CAF, creating a clear correlation between the component and its use. They were even able to pinpoint the non-technical benefits, including the cost of rations being reduced for troops through the use of SKU technology.
An area in which Group 10 could improve their report is through the general format of their paper. We found that they had several run on sentences, making their ideas and thought process difficult to follow at times. We also discovered that the transitions between their ideas were sometimes clunky and rough, as many of their new ideas start immediately, without any introduction whatsoever. Their paper also lacks any citations, which poses a risk for copyright issues. For their final draft, they should definitely reconsider putting in sources. They also neglected to include any introduction or conclusion, arranging their points in bullet form, which strays from the essay format.
All in all, Group 10 laid out their information in a manner that was easy to see and understand, but they did so without citation or introduction. While they avoided any excess fluff or rhetoric, they did so at the expense of smooth transitions and proper essay format.
