The automobile industry is inherently interesting due to many factors: it is massive, it is challenging. It is competitive, and in the near future due to globalization and decreasing oil reserves the industry will become more challenging. A hybrid or solar system cars is one of the steps towards the expected reformation predicated in a past decade.
As a Pakistan base company, Kiwi aims to launch it’s the first solar power car in Pakistan; the environment-friendly cars such as hybrid powered vehicles and solar powered vehicles (SPVs) use photovoltaic (PV) cells to convert sunlight into electricity. “KIWI 400” is solar energy based car; powered on the energy extract by Sun it depends on PV cells to convert sunlight into electricity to drive electric motors and storing the energy in batteries for night use. Around the world more than 900 million tons of CO2 are released by motor vehicles, for every liter of gas burned by a car emit 2.4 kg of CO2. Burning fossil fuel for energy is contributing 90% in global warming.
Power from a solar is limited by the size of the vehicle and area that can be exposed to sunlight. While energy can be build up in batteries to lower peak demand on the array and provide operation in sunless conditions, the battery adds weight and cost to the vehicle which is a challenge for “KIWI 400”. The creation of PV cells to capture that sunlight is also expensive, so it will also increase the cost of production and eventually increases the price of car but reduced the future expenses related to consumption of fuel as it will result as a fixed cost for our customers.
