Dear, President Truman
The use of nuclear weapons is justifiable during the war. On August 6, 1945, the United States of America dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. For decades, there have been feuds relating to the justification of the bombing and on nuclear weapons. The bomb was dropped to put an immediate end to the war the USA was facing the prospect of invading Japan to subdue it. The last few battles, Iwo Jima and Okinawa particularly, were very bloody. Japan had no regard for its own citizens' lives and planned to turn their whole island into a fortress. It was estimated that casualties would be 1 million Americans and half a million British in the first invasion alone. A nuclear weapon is a weapon of mass destruction whose explosive power derives from a nuclear reaction. Nuclear weapons are not all bad they help to defend and protect against countries. The use of nuclear weapons is justifiable during wars and attacks.
One may argue nuclear weapons are justifiable during the war however others feel that nuclear weapons are not justifiable during the war because it harms the earth, nuclear radiation may cause human deformities and birth defects, and it's a waste of time effort and money. This claim is not true for many reasons nuclear weapons have the capacity to wipe out an entire enemy city or country, nuclear weapons can be used as a threat, and it ends the war quicker with more money and lives saved.
One reason nuclear weapons are justifiable during the war is because nuclear weapons have the capacity to wipe out an entire enemy city or country. The atomic bomb wiped out half of japan with the 2 bombs that were used this is good because it makes it easier for attacking a country.
Another reason nuclear weapons are justifiable during the war is because nuclear weapons can be used as a threat. Many people know the capability that a nuclear weapon has. Nuclear weapons can be harmful to the earth however they don’t always have to be used. If a country knows that you have nuclear weapons like America for example than they won’t plan to attack and it will keep your country safe.
The last reason nuclear weapons are justifiable during the war is because nuclear weapons end the war quicker with more lives and money saved. During the war a lot of soldiers have to fight and a lot of money is used for regular weapons, supplies and other war needs but with nuclear weapons they can destroy an entire enemy city or country as stated before so it’s faster to end the war.
