SELF-DEFENCE
One of the main reasons there should not be any restriction on the gun ownership and usage in the United States of America is because the law-abiding citizens need these guns for self-defense. In the year 2015, there were a total of 13,472 people who were killed by the Firearms and 26,016 people injured.
There are approximately 300 million firearms that already are in the hands of the citizens. That is almost 1 firearm per person living in the United States. So bringing restrictions now isn’t going to change anything, as the guns already exist in abundance. It is too late to bring in restrictions on the usage and ownership of guns. This means, people who are in need of guns in order to create any kind of chaos or any kind of gory incident would already most likely hold a gun. So it is time for the law-abiding citizens to get hold of the guns so that they can defend themselves, when time comes.
Take the Aurora, Colorado tragedy that took place on the 20th of July 2012. The shooter targeted a movie theatre for his terrifying actions where he killed 12 and injured 58 innocent souls. There were several movie theatres close to his house, in spite of which he chose a theatre that is a 20-minute drive from his apartment. The shooter did not choose the biggest or the closest theatre. He chose the theatre that did not allow anyone to carry guns, as it will be a real easy target for him since no one can protect himself or herself.
So this proves that when the law-abiding citizens are not in possession of any firearms, they are very easy targets for these shooters.
Also there are almost around 34 people on average who die everyday as victims of a gun related incident. Bringing more restrictions on the guns is going to make the law abiding citizens find it harder to purchase them and is going to make the criminals easier to carry on the attacks on the innocent. The number 34 would just end up increasing.
