President George W. Bush’s speech was about the attacks that were made on the twin towers of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. He informed the nation about these attacks and made it very clear that America was grieving for the loss of all those lives and families who lost their loved ones. He described his anger toward these terrorist attacks and how our freedom had been threatened. He described the incident of how the attacks were made. Airplanes flying into buildings, structures collapsing, and unyielding anger. Bush also said that these attacks were deliberate to scare the nation. With that said, he stated, “that they may shake the foundation of our buildings but they cannot touch the foundation of America.” He implemented the government’s emergency response plan and the military was prepared and powerful.
Bush indicated that they would find out who was behind these terrible acts and they will not take it lightly and bring them to justice. Finally, he asked for everyone’s prayers for those who were grieving and for those children whose life has been changed forever. Bush definitely conveys his points effectively. After hearing his speech, it definitely had me reminiscing to that day. It hit my heart like a sledgehammer for all those that had to suffer through that. He uses deep language and that is what really hits America’s hearts. He reassures the public by saying that they will bring them to justice and they will find out who is under these horrific acts. After hearing this speech, it brought me back to my kindergarten days.
I remember all of the teachers in shock by these attacks. As kindergarteners we had no idea what was going on. Now looking back, I had somewhat of an idea after I was told what happened. Now, it still hurts to hear of those acts and to see people crying and grieving. Ultimately, he accomplished what he set out to do because we found out who was behind these acts—Osama bin Laden. The lasting repercussion of our war on terror is that presently, there are still so many terror attacks that are being done that we don’t even know about. So still today, we are not at peace, people are fighting, and people are dying. Hopefully, one day we will finally be at peace and won’t have to suffer any longer.
