Perform a leadership analysis on any famous leader you choose.

Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela is one of the most famous leaders in the world. He was born in 1918 and raised from a humble background north of the city of Johannesburg. His father was a chief of the Tembu, a tribe in South Africa. This could explain his interest in politics, even from a very tender age. In 1942, he got his Bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Witwatersrand. This showed his determination in fighting for people’s rights even before he began his active campaign. He was a leader with a vision.

This renowned leader is recognized for the role he played in the fight against the widespread racism and for the independence of the South African republic. However, his outright defiance of the apartheid rule did not fail to come with its challenges. He was arrested on several occasions for his leading role in ANC, the political party credited for South Africa’s independence. He was also banned from public gatherings and sentenced to life imprisonment in the Rhodesian Island. He was placed under house arrest and accused falsely on several occasions and in solitude for 28 years. This illustrates his perseverance as a leader.

However, all this did not kill his spirit in the fight to have an apartheid-free South Africa. This showed his determination as a leader. Amazingly, he is one of the most selfless leaders; unlike many African and other leaders around the world, Mandela served for only one term besides the fact that he went through a lot of injustices from the colonial authorities.

Reasons why I think he was a great leader and the impact he had;
