My name is Nicolás Correa, I’m a student of San Carlos School and I’m in tenth grade, currently doing first half of second bimester. During my transition through out the school I’ve had many interests, my abilities are mainly mathematic abilities, so my best performance areas are in physics and mathematics, although my interest in other areas such as philosophy is very great. In fifth, sixth, and seventh grade I was on the math Olympics team, and in 2009 I achieved the fifteenth position on the national scale competing against 462 of the best students, who qualified to the final tests of 117 schools in Colombia; these were the best rated schools of the country. I’ve been involved in sports all my life, since my very first years. I have played soccer since the third grade, and I’ve been school captain in all of my participations. Outside of school I’ve participated on national tournaments as captain of Ecopetrol in “La Liga de Bogota.” I’ve been in many committees, nowadays I’m working on a project with other schools to think of some proposals to eradicate my country’s corruption, and we are giving these proposals to Colombia’s president Juan Manuel Santos, who is a graduate of my school. We will present them on the ninth of December. My grades have always been outstanding, but I’ve tried, always, to have a life outside school, I’m a person who likes to do a lot of things, and tries to do them right.
I would like to be an exchange student in St. Christopher’s School, because it’s a unique opportunity I could have in my life. It has always been a dream for me to study and share in the USA’s culture. Since I was a kid I enjoyed every trip to the U.S., all of those trips changed my way of thinking, my way of living. It would be unbelievable to make my dream of sharing in U.S. culture come true with such a prestigious school as St. Christopher’s.
I have been all my life in San Carlos School, it was created 50 years ago by Benedictine monks from North Dakota. My school is an all boys, religious based school that forms leaders from age seven to seventeen to help the community with knowledge, but also with values. The more I gathered information about St. Christopher’s, the more I realized the similarities. I believe I will quickly adapt I there.
