The American dream is the ideal world in which everyone has an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination and initiative. No matter what race, religion, or ethnicity someone is, everyone should have the exact same chance at success. It should be like this, but it’s not this way at all. This world is corrupt, many people nowadays feel as if you have to get lucky in order to live good. When I say lucky I mean either hitting the lottery or just any other type of get rich quick plan that requires you to do very little work with an extremely good outcome. That’s the American dream now to many people. I feel as if hard work isn’t very much appreciated like it used to be back in the days. People now just want things to be given to them with no time and effort put in to achieve their goals and for some people it just so happens to be like that for them. No it isn’t far but in today’s world the media makes it seems as if the way to making it is becoming an overnight success. Example shows like, who wants to be a millionaire? American idol or America’s next top model, its many shows like this plus more that’s giving people different outlooks on “the American dream” and making others think otherwise than what we use to view as “the American dream”.
