Project Purpose:

This document provides all the basic information of the project on substantial basis. It is an initiation document which provides all the major information of the project i,e it is a project Initiation document. The main purpose of this document is to give you an insight of the project by analysing and estimating the project and its implementation. It is intended for the project managers to exhibit the project to the project board. It is also used to estimate the success of the project.

Here, the aim of this project is to introduce a new system of authentication using the biometric finger authententication replacing all the smart cards.

In order to enhance the security and the purpose of carrying the smart cards we are introducing the biometric finger authentication replacing the traditional system of pin security. Here we use the principle of biometric finger authentication as a unique identification of each and every person.

With usage of such kind of technology the security factor in more protected than remembering pin numbers of various cards and it also prevents unauthorized usage of smart cards in case of lost cards or leaked pin numbers.

In this scenario we place a biometric device at various cash machines and different shopping stores in order to record the biometric finger prints. The finger prints are recorded for the first time at a particular site of office such as issuing authorities, banks etc., so as to authorize ones finger prints to allow further smooth access in using smart cards.

This biometric is information is stored in distributed servers and further this is used to extended the services in making reservations and other things.

The main aim of this project is to enhance the usage of the technology available to the customers using the smart cards.

Project Definition:

The project "biometric authentication access” is aimed in securing and easing the job of smart cards by replacing the existing smart cards system. i.e credit and debit cards.

This project ensures the security based on the principle that no two persons in the world have a similar finger prints match. This system can over the drawback of stealing the cards pin number. It also ensures completely that only an authorized personscan use his accounts.

Background:

Traditional i.e. current system in usage of smart cards is securing by using the pin number. But this has some drawbacks like fraud or misuse of cards i.e in terms of security and also in usage. To overcome the disadvantages of the traditional system, this project introduces the new concept of biometric authentication access

This system provides security by following biometric authentication access.
