Have you asked yourself if you have performed your role in life? The purpose of your existence or what is your importance in the society?
When I watched the short film, I suddenly asked those questions to myself and wondered, how many people have I inspired or have I learned something from people in my environment? Being an Artist will blow everyone's mind because of the creative juices, wide range of imagination and strange ways of showing the art just like Joey Velasco. Velasco painted "The Last Supper" with a dramatic twist. The painting was all about a covenant with Christ and 12 young beggars. It speaks for itself giving the idea of happiness of some children through their facial emotions, poverty by their dirty attire and difficulty of their lives thru their eyes. Every child has their own stories but their common denominator is poverty. Nene, Joyce, Tinay, Itok, Emong, Onse, Buknoy, Michael, Dodoy , Jun, Roselle and Sudan. Those were just names but behind those were attitudes of brevity, perseverance and faith. I don't know their whole stories but the film made me reflect of my past. The times I have wasted by ignoring those kinds of subjects in the canvas of society. Every subject matters just like in art and I must say that they are perfect because God made them through his likeness and image.
I always ask myself the reason why I live in this country and right now I know the answer, to be them. Despite the hardships, poverty and all negativity they still manage to continue their lives. I may have money in my pocket, family that supports me, teachers that guide me and friends who are always there beside me but I don't have the lessons most children in the painting had based on their stories. We have different purposes in life and we complain a lot but we must always remember that there is God which is the center of everything in our lives just like in the painting.
