Why I want to go to college?

In my family, I am the first person to go to college right after graduating high school. Going to college would be a new experience for me that I would have to adjust to. I have no one in my family to relate to when it comes to college. Being the first traditional college student is a title that is important to me because I will be the one who breaks the chain. I want fulfill my family’s expectations of me and to be a role model for future generations.

I plan to become a child psychologist and help children that face various mental and emotional issues. I will start my own practice in order to help children who are struggling with those issues so that they can improve their mental health and ultimately find happiness. To become a child psychologist, I will have to attend graduate school and receive a doctorate degree to further my studies and be certified in that field. In particular, I intend to pursue graduate training in clinical psychology. I also plan to learn about the field of politics so that I can incorporate my psychological expertise into a career in political advocacy later in life. As an advocate for children, I will share my thoughts about the different struggles of children and anything else that concerns them from a political point of view. In my roles as a child psychologist and advocate, I could impact a child’s life by helping with educational rights child abuse rights, and many more.

In college, I also aspire to be an advocate for not only children but for the rights of women. I will create my own organization for teens. I plan to work with teens because they are at the age to where they understand more and they are the ones who are being influenced most. One program that I would like to offer is catered to teen girls and will help them develop leadership skills and break down any negative stereotypes they may believe about themselves.
