Jennifer is faced with a pretty good situation. She has four of her managers from different departments putting proposals together for $2 million in extra funding. Before Jennifer makes a decision she needs to make sure that the proposals meet the needs that she put in place. She also needs to make sure that the proposal or proposals that she chooses has a long-term positive impact on the company. Each project should cover the benefits and consequences, advantages and disadvantages, plusses and minuses. A good project proposal should not just outline the positives it should also outline some possible negatives. Ultimately, the project that Jennifer chooses should have a clear outline of profitability. Jennifer’s main reason for having her managers put these proposals together was to increase revenue.

The only requirement that Jennifer set for each of her managers was for the projects that they propose bring in revenue for the company above the $2 million she is willing to invest in the project or projects. Jennifer should have been a little clearer of the criteria she would like to see in these project proposals. Maybe she assumed that her manages would know what she expects but being clear makes they deliver what she needs. The additional information she should collect is how long each project will take before the company sees an increase profits.

Jennifer should also require each manager’s proposal to have a clear approach so that she will have a clear understanding of what is expected as well as a detailed understanding of each task and how it will be accomplished. The proposal should also include a description of each of the deliverables, a schedule for each of the tasks that need to be performed, how many staff members are needed for the project, and what the total cost of the project will be (Gido & Clement, 2012).

When Jennifer sees the proposals from her four managers it should not matter whether she had involvement
