Abstract
At the beginning of this research will give a broad introduction of e-learning and the development of e-learning in the modern education along with the issues. This research is to study explore the concept of e-learning in higher education (HD) with respect to learning style, the differences between traditional learning and online learning and extent to what can e-learning do to facilitate leaner to enhance their ability for learning. In the literature review, the author will draw on contrasting approach to analyze the relationship between traditional learning and e-learning in order to find the theoretical gap. This study will also carry out the philosophical underpinning of the research. The finding of this research is aimed to understand what are students perceptions on apply e-learning as new learning approach into their practice compare to the traditional learning and what kind of problem they may encounter during this process. Can e-learning take over traditional leaning?
1.0 Introduction
What is e-learning? The definition of e-learning changed in the rapidly growing field of education. The terminology used to describe technological based learning from using such as “technology-supported learning, distance learning and distance education” to “online learning and Web-based learning” to “e-learning.” This change is very fast far beyond the fashion trend.
The growing influence of e-learning evolved for a lot of economic and technological reasons. It became possible, large in scale, popular. E-learning is deeply embedded in the understanding people urgent needs for develop more advanced learning delivery methods in order to construct better education, personal training for example.
Nowadays , e-learning enable us to train and develop our workforce continuously, to capture, share, and manage knowledge and skills of the professionals who work in organizations, colleges, and universities, and to get the right information to the right people, when ,how and where they need it.
In recent years, due to the rise of information technology and digitalization lead to a revolution in modern education. In the past two decades, e-learning is increasly popular in Higher Education (HD). The introduction and growth of e-learning is significant to the modern education and it is aimed to promote new learning style which it can be differentiated conventional learning style.
As we all know, e-learning is heavily rely on information technology (IT), the use of IT in teaching can be regarded as an advantage to enhance learning and teaching process (Hsbollah and Idris, 2009).
