Since I’m not from United States, I don’t really know the similarities and differences in shopping habits, food preferences, income levels, home ownership, number of children in the family, and so on. That is why I will compare two different cities from my country, Colombia. The two cities I’m going to compare are Cali, my hometown, and Bogota, which is the capital of the country.

Shopping habits

Bogota is a city with almost 9 million habitants which as a lot of shopping habits. Cali is considered the third city of Colombia, with almost 4 million people, and there are some shopping habits that are similar to the capital, but there are also some habits that popular just in Cali. As Bogota’s weather is cold and Cali’s is hot, people in the capital tend to buy other types of clothes if you compare it to Cali. People in Bogota tend to buy jeans, jackets, pullovers, and beanies. In Cali, we tend to buy shorts, tanks, and caps to protect us from the sun. People in Bogota use to buy small cars, since the gas is too expensive and the roads are always full of cars. To contrast, Cali has a lot of mountains, so people need to buy bigger cars.

Food preferences

The preferences of food in both cities are almost the same. All Colombians like the same type of food, and all typical plates are popular in all the cities. Soups, beans, rice, fish, and meat are really famous in both cities, and all people love to eat them. Spicy food is also popular, and people tend to mix everything with ketchup, or pink sauce, which is mayonnaise and ketchup together.

Income Levels

As the capital, Bogota’s income level is much higher than Cali’s. There are more rich people in Bogota, since there are more jobs opportunities. The only similarity that both cities have is that the income level is divided into 6 different levels, where the 1 is for the poor people,
