Being a supportive leader who is not interested in giving orders, or managing every detail that his employees do as their jobs, all the managers wants is the employees to work themselves (like Stephanie), without telling them what to do. The manager will help or guide you as the employee to certain point and then the manager will back away from the task, because the manager has no need to worry, the manager feels that you, as the employee are capable in doing the job on your own.
Being a supportive leader is defined by different styles, emotions, training, and time. Supportive leaders (like Jonathon) listens carefully to his employee’s needs, he helps them deal with other employees different personalities. This requires a great deal of sensitivity for some managers to achieve. Supportive leaders will train their employees to deal with certain issues themselves as they arise. The manager only wants to interfere when is necessary. This type of training requires time and investment by the leader.
Being a supportive leader is a quality that an employee can appreciate a good relationship with his/her manager. Dan and Alex have two different styles of being a supportive leader.
Dan has two different types of leadership styles. He is a supportive leader and an achievement-oriented leader, he want to see his employees succeed.
