Amazon Web Services vs. Google Cloud Platform:
Going mano a mano for cloud computing supremacy

Abstract
Amazon Web Services (AWS) was formed in 2006 as an independent offshoot of global Internet giant, Amazon.com, to take advantage of the growing cloud computing sector. AWS serves small, medium, and large businesses in a variety of industries and boasts having nearly half a million web developers (Media.amazonwebservices.com, 2013). Google Cloud Platform relies heavily upon the strength of Google, Inc.’s massive, global, state-of-the-art computer networks, which also consistently power widely-used company-owned properties, such as YouTube and Gmail, to administer its cloud computing infrastructure (Cloud.google.com, 2014). In the battle for cloud computing supremacy, Google will find that the lead and market share Amazon has built with their AWS cloud platform, too big to overcome even with the vast amount of resources/reach that they, as a company, have at their disposal. Thus, the question is whether the pricing and marketing strategies that Google plans on employing in order to gain a significant share of the cloud market will be enough to solidify themselves as the industry’s second largest vendor?
