After reading this article on the success of McDonalds in France, I realized that McDonalds has grown up just like I have. As a kid I remember going to McDonalds for hamburgers and French fries. Sure we all remember Ronald McDonald staring us in the face as soon as we entered the doors as well as the large golden arches. We as Americans could count on those salty fries and Big Mac's special sauce. Well welcome to a new era!
France is known for their lavish foods and rich cosine. So putting a fast food restaurant such as McDonalds just couldn't work right? Well in the article that may have been the case had it come to France as that simple American restaurant. When doing so it was under criticism from some of the French activists because they did not want their economic welfare to be compromised. French were scared that jobs would be lost if America imported the unhealthy food into the country. McDonalds eased their minds by using local commodities to stock their business. As customers relax they are also offered a very different decor then the traditional US tables and swivel metal chairs. In the European McDonalds, patrons are able to sit in leather chairs with very modern tables. Wi-Fi is offered so it is much easier to take care of things away from the office. In doing so a customer is likely to spend more time and more money at McDonalds.
