The weeks leading into the bug list presentation I really focused on observing problems that were going on around me. There were many things that I noticed that I never would have before. I came up with about three options that I could have used for my presentation. These included, tangled headphones, trash bags, and losing things in my room. The lost items truly stood out to me and I decided to discuss that. It was amazing to me how many times items were lost in my living room, that were objects that we used multiple times during the day. It seemed like such a simple problem but we could not find a way to keep track of our remote. All in all I would never have thought of solutions or maybe even noticed this problem if I was not using my observing skill. The other two problems my group talked about was stretching shirts on hangers, and having dirty wash clothes when you clean dishes. These are simple everyday problems that either do not have a solution or we have not heard of one yet. For the lost items around the house, a solution might be too expensive for a minor problem. There are solutions like Velcro on the back of your remote but even with that, the remote can still be misplaced with no way to find it. The problem with the clothes hanger I do not think enough people have this problem for people to truly look into a solution. A dirty washcloth I think really needs to be fixed. There can be a lot of bacteria on it and that can be very unsanitary. There are solutions to make cleaner rags but their needs to be a way to know when they contain harmful bacteria. There are many ways I can take what I learned in this project to benefit me later in life. The main thing I will work on is to always keep observing everywhere I go. This can help me create solutions to these problems in a business way or just by changing the way I do things. This project was a great experience in many ways and I enjoyed the observing process the most.
