4. Should Silvio try to adapt his style to the Indian style & culture and values or should he try to change some of the Indian norms & behaviors to fit Schindler”s and his own management style?

Actually, he should try to get himself into the Indian local culture. Because he is a new person in Indian, the surrounding people are all having the same culture except him. Hence, he needs to be adapting the local culture, and then he can understand Indian.

5. Silvio claims to recruit people on the basis of having “the right attitude & energy”. Should you select primarily on knowledge, or attitude?

I choose the attitude. In my opinion, as an employee the attitude is important than knowledge. Because employee have a good attitude, they are responsible for their work. They work together are more smoothly.

6. As Luc Bonnard, how would you evaluate Silvio’s first 7 months as General Manager? As Luc Bonnard, what action should you take with Silvio?

Silvio's performance has both positive and negative attributes. His choices of a management team seemed to be very logical and well thought out. It was obvious from the case that Silvio knew he was not in a comfortable environment. The selection of experienced managers with a background in India was extremely needed. Another positive attribute was his desire to adapt this environment, from the management team, to his business model from the start.

From negative viewpoint, he didn’t maintain the relationship with headquarter, and he didn’t deal with local people correctly. He also decided wrong strategy for the business in India. I suggest Luc Bonnard give a demotion to Silvio, and see whether he could make this situation better in a period of time.

7. What advice would you give to Silvio regarding his decision on the non-standard glass wall elevator that has been ordered?
