Executive Summary

Nordstrom, Inc. is an American upscale style retailer set up by John W. Nordstrom and Carl F. Wallin and headquartered in Seattle. The association began as a shoe retailer and consequently to extended its stock to fuse dress, embellishments, handbags, enhancements, cosmetics, fragrances, wedding and home furnishing divisions (Nordstrom official Website, 2015). They serve customers through Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack and the as of late made e-business site nordtromrack.com and its online private arrangement website page, HauteLook. From the start, Nordstrom’s approach to manage business was to give extraordinary organization, decision, quality and worth (Nordstrom official Website, 2015). Likewise, Nordstrom has kept up that system till the date. Extensively, Nordstrom rivals indulgence retailers Bloomingdale's, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, and moreover clerical class retailers, for instance, Macy's, Von Maur, Dillard's and Belk.

Job Analysis

Retail buyer also called fashion merchandise or purchasing buyer is required in Nordstrom headquarters based in Seattle, who is going to buy products for organization to use and resell. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics retail buyer evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and review product quality. A fashion merchandiser should be thoroughly familiar with textiles and fabrics, fashion history of Nordstrom and the cultures that inspired them. We will discuss more about buyers’ duties later in section under Job Specifications.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics 2014 wage data, the median wage for purchasing managers, buyers, and purchasing agents was $29.11 per hour or $60,550 annually in May 2012 (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2015). The lowest 10 percent earned less than $34,990, and the top 10 percent earned more than $110,050. In the year of 2012, there are 504,600 people in this position, and the industry growth rate for this occupation is 4% from 2012 to 2022, slower than the average for all occupations (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2015).
