Career Interests Profiler and Competencies
I found the tool useful to showcase my strengths, talents and general career areas of interest. The Career Interest Profiler was used to match my personality with specific career choices. Competencies showed how my behavior skills and abilities drive my performance at work. By using these tools I’m able to improve my ability to better choose a career path and ensure my future success.
The results of both were interesting to say the least. While some of the competencies were what I expected, the job professions listed were a surprise. Healthcare was at the top of the list. This information was surprising as I have never entertained the field as a possible career. It makes sense as I’m a sympathetic person and have a passion for helping people, although I have no interest in this filed.
According to my Career Interest Profiler, my primary career matches would be in the medical field, such as doctor, therapist, etc. Yet, as I stated previously, I have no interest in this field what-so-ever. The secondary area would be more to my liking; judge, lawyer, etc. Had I started college at a much younger age, being an attorney would be at the top of my list. My career of choice is Human Resources and this field lines up in that area as it deals with laws, regulations and is disciplined. This filed works with diversity assists others and routinely works within a team environment.
I absolutely enjoy human resources. I enjoy the diversity of the field. You can be a specialist in one area such as benefits or labor relations or you can follow the generalist role and enjoy a wide variety with a mixture of work comp, safety, benefits, labor relations, wellness, training, etc. I have the ability to be a tactical member of the organization as well as strategic.
