I am writing to inform you of my opinion in regards to adding Macy's company to the Rutgers Business school internship program. Macy's has been in business for more than 81 years. The company has corporate offices in Cincinnati and New York. It is one of the nation's premier retailers, with fiscal 2010 sales of $25 billion. The Macy's brand includes about 810 Macy's department stores and furniture galleries in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico, as well as their website,macys.com. The company prides itself in their growth over the years with fiscal growth up by 4.6 percent in 2010. They pride themselves in attracting and developing talents all over the nation by hiring the most skilled people in every position throughout the organization. This ensures that they continue to give their customers the best shopping experience possible.
Macy's is a diverse and inclusive corporation. It is at the core of the company's approach to doing business. According to the company website Women represent more than 76 percent of the workforce across Macy's, Inc., and more than 65 percent of management-level executives are women. Racial minorities represent more than 46 percent of our associate team and represent more than 27 percent of our management team. This is simply attractive and bodes well with what our university is looking for in a potential company to add to our program. Macy's has social responsibilities that they take pride in and that set them apart from other companies. The company has had a stringent Vendor & Supplier Code of Conduct that sets out specific standards and requirements for any vendor doing business with them and is designed to protect workers in the U.S and abroad. Macy's social responsibility stretches all over the country and abroad. Macy's also supports and provides scholarships to employees who wish to further their education.
