“CECILIA’S DRESSED CHICKEN”
Cecilia’s dressed chicken is one of the most successful chicken meat shop in San Miguel, Public Market. They established on the year 1990 and now they are the biggest chicken meat shop at San Miguel, Public Market. The original owner of the store is Angelica Tecson, but since 2012 the shop was over now to my friend Cecilia Tecson, her daughter. I asked her if how many kilo of chicken that they can solve every day and she said “Nakakabenta kame ng 1000-1500 kilos araw-araw” I was totatlly shocked when I heard that then I followed up that question that what is the edge of their shop among other meat shop then she answered me “Siguro, mas kilala na yung shop namin at madami na din kameng suki, kaya siguro nakakaubos kame sa araw araw”. I asked them what are the other services or product that they can offer to be a competitive advantage or what their strategies to have a quota or have a more sale, and she explain “Hindi lang naman kame basta nagtitinda ng manok sa palengke, kame yung pinagbabagsakan ng manok, tapos samin humahango yung ibang pwesto ditto sa palengke, saka siguro may mga loyal na customer na kame o yung tinatawag nga na suki. Saka hindi lang kame yung nag aabang na may magpunta samin na customer kame mismo yung lumalapit sa customer” I asked how, she response “Inaalok naming yung mga karinderya, yung mga gusting magtinda sa umaga or maglako lako para magkaroon sila ng extra income tapos pag dating sa hapon saka naming sila sisingilin”. I was amazed to their strategy and I think that was every business should do.
CECILIA’S DRESSED CHICKEN SHOP Doesn’t have their own poultry, the source of their chicken is Mr. Jayvee Vedasto their middleman. Luckily I have the chance to interview Mr. Vedasto to ask them what they do to supply the needs of chicken on the dressed shop. He said “May tatlong farm kase kong kinukuhanan, yung kokontakin ako ni Ms. Che tapos kokontakin ko yung owner nung farm, halimbawa sa hapon tatawagan nila ko, saka ko kokontakin yung owner nung farm para matanong kung may stock sila na chicken na mahuhuli sa hapon para katayin at maitinda kinakabukasan, kung wala, yung isang farm naman ang tatawagan ko. Tatlo, kase yung kinukuhanan ko. Bounty fresh food inc, Cpf farm at Marthia Tovera farm. Yan ang mga kinukuhanan ko”

Having the right Middleman for your product is vital to the success of your business. The middleman acts as a link between the manufacturer and retailers, having a middleman to your business have their own Advantages and Disadvantages. So here it is;
Pros
- Provide logistic support
- Provide transactional function
- Collect data about the changing needs
- It can also help the retailer know about the competition on the business
Cons
- Revenue Loss
- Loss of communication control
- Loss of product importance
- Selling at higher than maximum retail price
For me, it is not efficient to have a long distribution strategy in this kind of business. Especially, all of us loves Chicken, especially our all-time favorite drumsticks and closed-second chicken wings which are perfect for buffalo-style recipe. But, you’re into white meat, look no further than the breast and thighs that is a healthy choice for people who strict dietary needs. Remember, being one of the most flexible meats in the kitchen, chicken is extremely versatile and can be cooked in so many ways. In this kind of business, its more effective if the product can easily sell because people loved fresh chicken, so If Ms. Cecilia takes long to distribute their stocked chicken the customer can’t satisfy to the freshness of the dressed chicken.
