KFC belongs to a part of YUM! Brands which is also the parent company of Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. Every day, more than 12 million customers are served at KFC restaurants in 109 countries and territories around the world (KFC Corporation 2013). KFC is the most famous and largest fast food franchise in the World. Most outlets are based on a franchise, with a minority operated directly by the company itself. Franchisees purchase certain items from the parent company, pay a purchase as a percentage of earnings, and contribute towards local advertising costs (Linette 2011). For example, The Australian Financial Review (2013) points out that KFC now has more than 600 stores in Australia and New Zealand, which are company owned or franchised.
