Describe the type of consumer buying decision that best describes the choice to indulge at Ethels.
The type of consumer buying decision that best describes the choice to indulge at Ethel’s in my opinion was quite unclear. I feel as if neither of the three describes the situation at best. If there is one that is closely related to indulging at Ethel’s, it would be routine response behavior. Routine response behavior is associated with frequently purchased low cost goods and or services. Another name for this consumer buying decision would be low-involvement products. With this consumer buying decision, consumers spend little time on research and decision making before purchasing the product. Being that chocolates have been around since the seventeenth century, research on the product is substantially unnecessary and limited and extensive decision making is not needed at all. The consumer already knows of the product and would really just be looking for a price that would accommodate their needs. Normally with routine response behavior, consumers do not need recognition until they are introduced or exposed to the product by either advertisement or seeing the actual product being displayed on the shelf. Consumers always buy products first and evaluate them later. Being that the prices in Ethel’s lounges are affordable, it gives the consumer a chance to purchase a product with little or no thought. If a person is satisfied with a product, then they are likely to purchase it again without conducting research and spending time evaluating. Routine response behavior is more appropriate for Ethel’s because consumers have already been introduced to chocolates and are willing to continue purchasing them at their expense.
