Different Managerial Styles

Mr. De. Santos is friendly because majority of the employees are Mexicans and also he has worked at the plant for a long time. He is so confident they can do their job without much assistance and interference. He believes when he is friendly, the workers will be able to approach him whenever they have an issue to discuss or need an advice.
To raise the factory morale, the two managers should
• Treat them as people: No workers want to work in a hostile environment or a place where they will not be able to harness their full potential. They should be given freedom in their areas of specialization
• Be available, listening and engaging in the daily activities of the factory. They should be from time to time be in the factory floor talking with workers, asking questions and soliciting ideas. The workers will feel their opinions are valued which will make them happy and proud.
• Ask employees what motivates them. This can be done through a Questions and Answer session where staffs will share their values and how they measure success. This answers will in turn suggest non-financial rewards that will be boost their morale.
• Incorporate Factory fun: Having leisure time leads to a compromise, meeting other needs and working together as a family. They should both propagate a competitive environment by integrating humor and play. Spur workers to take part in different social activities.
The senior management should hold a conflict resolution meeting with Mr. de Santos and Ms. Weiss. Firstly, they should smoothen the relationship between the two managers although they may have their own strong opinions and what is hurting about their current situation. Seeing that they are both looking to contribute to the success story of the factory, they should explain that their different managerial styles and disagreements is preventing them from achieving
