EDUCATION
What is Education? We all know education to be the institution of learning. Well
to the average mind education is going to school listening to your teacher/professor relate
a lesson plan to you, next you do several problems called class work, followed by
homework. Education in the most immense sense is defined to be the act or experience
that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual.
However, as we live our day-to-day lives and grow as a society we gather that education
in its traditional sense has evolved. Education is also the ground work on what our
society was, is and will become.
Several different levels make up the education industry such as: Pre-K, secondary
school, colleges and universities, and career and training services. In other words we can
define the education industry as a collection of organizations and business that provide
products and services aimed at enhancing the quality of education in society. The US
education and training services industry includes about 45,000 companies and 300,000
self-employed individuals with combined annual revenue of nearly $30 billion. The many
businesses that support education such as the city and state, federal funding, private
companies and non-profit organizations are helping to facilitate and transform education
to a rapidly expanding industry. The reasons that these businesses began to transpire is to
provide all schools with the option of outsourcing management and operation functions.
