The best marketing people in the world work for the credit card companies. Does that make them a business that uses ethics to the highest degree? Of course it does not! Let’s take an example from Visa and see if it is ethical marketing. “Now you can own anything, ant time, anywhere” (“squarecirclez”) then the add goes on to say “Introducing platinum access, the first card that automatically spread your purchases in two installments. So you can shop for designer brands or indulge in holiday with these.” (“squarecirclez”) Not only is this misleading information, but it is untrue and false advertising. I know many companies that do not accept credit cards. If I could buy anything anytime anywhere then how can I buy using a visa if they do not accept credit cards. This is an unethical ad, and should be against the law. I would review the fine print in the ad that makes it legal I would imagine, but I cannot read it because it is so small.

Let's take another look at an ad a credit card/Bank company. It says pay off on your taxes with extra cash at zero interest. At the end of that ad they put it asterix (star *) that says you get a free MP3 player. There is also an asterix (star *) in the fine print that states that they will be charged 24% after the promotional period. This was all in the fine print that no one could read at the bottom of the ad. It made the first line of the ad a blatant miss use of words. When companies like this indulge in advertising of this unethical proportion laws should step in and stop them.

Credit card marketing has been unethical for years, but no one seems to be stepping in. Every week Americans receive credit cards in the mail. They fill out forms and send them because they have said they have been preapproved for a credit card. Come to find out that most people are not qualified for their preapproved credit cards.
