I firmly believe that the divine command theory tells us that an act is either good or bad based off of that God either tells us we can do something or that we cannot do something. This is a hard theory for me to debate because if there is no “God” would we still not steal, or would we not steal because we have to deal with “societies” punishment for me or us. I would admit that I, myself believe this is a good theory based off that I am a Christian and this is hard to believe if there would be no “higher power” what would I be like or act like.

I will have to agree with the theist more, a lot of the points he makes relates a lot more to me due to my religion background, so it’s easier for me to side with him with regards to the facts he brings to the speech, I think the strongest argument I read in his debate was “Even with a God there can be evil” because no matter what, both still exist and I believe that is so true since we have “God” now and yet there are so many un Godly things happening in this world as well as so much evil going on around us each and every day. Now from the argument on the atheist I would have to choose his greatest argument as if God told Abraham to kill his son to prove how much he loves “God” why is that someone we want to obey, how is that any different than sadam Hussein. He has a very good argument on this standpoint because we frown upon murders in this society, but if we claim we murdered this person because God told us to in order to prove our love and devotion to him, should that murderer be set free then? Or is he now looked down upon as insane..?
