Business Research Project Part One
FastER Hospital just opened its doors to the Westside community. Research demonstrates a need for a community hospital located in the area. In the past three months, the national standards of wait times for a 30-bed emergency department (ER) is at or below average standards for FastER. As the community grows, these wait times will also grow. FastER is developing less expensive ways to improve overall wait times and enhance the Emergency Room patient experience. Team A will discuss and research two variables that will help to improve this problem.
Research Questions on Two Variables
- Is there a difference in the ER wait times based on the availability of staff and time of day?
- Track variables that propel satisfaction scores.
- A customer satisfaction survey with evaluated results to determine an area of improvement.
- ER wait times, how to improve service.
- Set goals and strategies to improve ER wait times.
- Improve a particular day or time first? Many times it’s best to pilot an area before implementing the complete project.
- Note any trending
- Is there a correlation in ER wait times based on current policies?
- Electronic records
- Patient privacy
- Doctor and employee accuracy to increase efficiency
- Improve service
- Employee training
- Policies that increase stakeholder satisfaction.
Hypothesis Statement
There is a relationship between FastER reducing emergency room wait times, creating policies to increase efficiency, and increasing customer satisfaction. There is a relationship between these variables as customer satisfaction will promote positive word of mouth as well as repeat business (Ajami, Ketabi, Yarmohammadian, & Bagherian, 2012). FastER needs to keep wait times low and increase efficiencies to keep customer satisfaction high.
