Google is a leading search engine created in 1995 by graduates from Stanford University Page and Sergey Brin. The founders collaborated to create a solution for retrieving relevant information from a mass data. Thus, the idea of a search engine earlier known as “Back Links” because, it would direct you to a website. The whole idea is to develop methods for people to be connected with information as well as offer different services and display ads. Anyone around the world with an internet connection would be able to search the huge index of links to websites. Some of the products that Google created to facilitate Ads and products such as AdSense, AdWord, Google Display, Google Local, Google Mobile programs and more ("Forbes Welcome", 2016). Google has two segments which they operate Google and mobile: Google segment contains ads and non-ad business. The mobile segment comprises of mobile devices and business dealings with Motorola ("Forbes Welcome", 2016). It is vital to study the human factors, and the competitive advantage which contributed to the position Google has today around the world. To set an example of how such a Large company managed to control its HRM effectively to their fullest Advantage.

Googles Business Model

Google is known for having a distinctive business model unlike other big companies which focuses on six elements according to a research by National Central University of Taiwan “searching service, advertising service, network-platform strategy, complementary value network, co-opetition value network, and core technology.”(International Journal of Electronic Business Management, 2011).The overall structure is flat in the organization which is aligned with the impression the founders built for google of  enjoying work as a challenge. Google is known around the world for its unique environment where employees are treated as a priority. The Organization places high importance on team and individual achievements that is a driver towards company’s success.

HRM

Human resources are the heart of the organization and a significant contributor to the success and development of any business entity if managed effectively. Today the economy is unpredictable and here comes the role of human resources professionals to strategically satisfy the demands of the market. Through providing appropriate workforce controlling, retaining to ensure that the organization will survive during recessions and above all to guarantee that they stay committed.
